The Reisner and Sladek groups at the McGill Dept of Physics and the McGill Genome Center have an NIH-funded postdoctoral position available to develop a dual nanopore device technology. The Reisner group (Dept, of Physics) is expert at developing nanofluidic devices for single molecule measurement and control. The Sladek group (McGill Genome Center) is expert in developing and applying new genomic and proteomics technologies to elucidate complex diseases.
This project is also in collaboration with Nooma Bio, a nanopore technology company in Santa Cruz CA and the Bhattacharya simulation group at the University of Central Florida, providing expertise in nanopore simulation to benchmark experiments.
The applicant should have a Ph.D. degree (ideally not older than three years) in one of the following fields: experimental condensed matter physics, applied physics, biophysics, bioengineering and any other related disciplines deemed relevant. Skills possessed in any of the following will be considered strong assets: (1) nanopore technology, (2) measurement of pA-nA level current signals, (3) single-molecule experimentation and (4) nanofabrication.
McGill University is based in downtown Montreal, a highly diverse and exciting city renowned internationally for its unique culture mixing the francophone and anglophone worlds.
